PER.

GROUP PROJECT | RESEARCH | UX/UI | ADVERTISING | PACKAGING

Per. transforms period care through its inclusive, personalized, and hassle-free approach. From monthly subscriptions to discreet dispensers and emergency SOS deliveries within minutes, Per. ensures individuals have access to essential menstrual and sexual health products whenever and wherever they need them. It's more than just a period app; it's a solution for everyone to obtain the supplies they require. With autonomous robot delivery, there's no awkward exchange at checkout, and your items can be in your hands within 30 minutes. With Per., managing periods has never been simpler or more empowering for those on the go.

OVERVIEW

When faced with the challenge of developing an app for autonomous robot delivery, we chose to address an almost universal issue: the dilemma of what to do when you get your period and lack access to supplies. Every month, more than 1.8 billion people around the world menstruate and while there’s been progress in the menstruation industry in providing access to these essential supplies, we decided it’s not nearly enough. Existing period brands are geared towards cisgender women and for those who menstruate but don’t subscribe to traditional gender norms, buying period supplies can be scary and dangerous. In response to this intolerant reality, we aimed to offer a service that is fast, discreet, and empowering to all those in need. By providing customized period kits, we revolutionize the period experience, transforming the toughest week of the month into something more manageable.

CARE FOR YOUR KITTY

Research

Per. caters to a diverse range of individuals who menstruate, including cisgender women, transgender men, and non-binary individuals. Our target audience also includes busy professionals, students, teenagers, health-conscious consumers, and urban residents seeking convenience and personalized menstrual care solutions. We strive to be inclusive and accessible to anyone seeking a modern, convenient, and supportive approach to managing their menstrual health.

target audience

Per. mainly operates in urban and suburban areas with a focus on locations where there is a high demand for convenient and accessible menstrual care solutions. Major metropolitan areas and densely populated urban centers are primary target locations due to the concentration of potential users, the need for fast and efficient delivery services and the accessibility for the robot to drive to you. Monthly subscriptions can be mailed for those who don’t live in the city, to provide them with the care until more advances can be made in robotic delivery. Additionally, Per. aims to expand its presence in college towns and university campuses, catering to students and young adults who may benefit from the convenience and discreet delivery options offered by the app.

target location

Our closest competitor, RedDrop, focuses on selling period kits designed for tweens, but no other company provides delivery as rapid as Per. By employing autonomous robots for delivery, we significantly reduce the time required to obtain your supplies, positioning us as an emergency solution. Moreover, we don't solely offer period supplies; we also provide snacks, pain management, and other menstrual health-related products, all bundled into a customized solution tailored to your preferences and requirements. These kits are beneficial for anyone, regardless of age or gender.

market gap

common symptoms & products

Through a comprehensive focus group analysis, we identified the most prevalent symptoms, preferred period products, pain management techniques, and snacks that assist individuals during their menstrual week. The predominant symptom reported was cramps, varying from mild to severe, with the most common management methods being the use of a heating pad or taking Midol. By organizing our customized kit builder into distinct sections such as brand, products, sizes, pain management, cravings, and self-care, we offer a wide array of options tailored to your preferences. This approach provides the broadest range of products available, all based on insights gleaned from our initial survey.

The name Per. is derived from shortening the word "period," but it also nods to the slang "pur" or "period," a phrase popular among younger generations to emphasize a statement. By turning the "e" on its side, it symbolizes Per. flipping period care on its head and revolutionizing menstrual care. Throughout the branding, we incorporate cat imagery and copy, with the "r" in Per. modeled after a cat's tail.

TRADEMARK

Valuing discreet delivery for our LGBTQ+ community and prioritizing their safety in an intolerant world, we've introduced an alternative ellipsis icon that serves as a symbol for Per., primarily featured on dispensers in gender-neutral and men's restrooms. Our aim is for this symbol to deter vandalism or violence against the LGBTQ+ community by seamlessly blending in. However, for those in the know, its significance remains clear.

Upon researching our competitors, we discovered a lack of gender-neutral options available in the market. Committed to inclusivity, we sought to introduce period supplies discreetly, avoiding the typical pink or red colors commonly used by other brands.

Utilizing a specific die-cut packaging subtly referencing cat ears, this minimalistic design aligns with the Per. branding while introducing a new shape that will become a recurring theme throughout physical aspects.

individual packaging

Drawing inspiration from the cat-ear shape, it was important to create packaging for individual items that would be located in vending machines and distributed as freebies to promote Per.

vending & Dispensers

large vending machine

Situated in spacious bathrooms within high-traffic areas such as malls, office buildings, and airports, this large-scale vending machine serves as a platform to advertise our services while also providing essential products when needed most.

Situated in smaller, gender-neutral, or men's bathrooms, this design enables product distribution in a subtle manner. Upon tapping the screen, the alternative logo vanishes, mirroring the layout of the app.

advertising

Per. doesn't rely on flashy advertising due to our commitment to discretion. Utilizing non-adhesive vinyls to prevent damage to mirrors, these stickers promote our mission while aligning with our values. Stickers like these can also be placed in the stalls to capture more potential customers.

mirror stickers

Our discrete delivery options distinguish us from competitors, reflecting our commitment to empowering individuals who menstruate while also acknowledging the significance of privacy. We aim to destigmatize menstruation while ensuring confidential and discreet service.
